Competition season found full formation as the Warriors robot danced their way into the hearts of fans at the 46th Annual Festival of Bands on Saturday, September 26th hosted by Boiling Springs High School. Eighteen bands ranging from Class 1A through 6A across the Carolinas showcased their music and artistry to full stands and competition judges.

The Warrior Band percussionists reveled in redemption, moving from second place in the last week's competition to first place for Best Percussion in Class 5A semi-finals. The ILHS Marching Band came in second overall for the semi-finals in their class and scored in the top ten to move on to the finals.

After a much needed cool down and dinner break, the band was rejuvenated for round two of the competition. The harvest full moon hung high in the sky and the colorguard sparkled in midnight blue robes as the band marched onto the field for round two. Technical precision met human creativity as the swirl of flags and notes synthesized an unreal harmony. The crowd roared with excitement as each section stole the spotlight over the course of the performance.

In the end, all bands retreated to the awards ceremony while the crowd clapped in celebration of a day filled with talented performances – cheers escalated for their respective teams. The Warrior fans showed up loud and proud for their band family! The ILHS Marching Band came in fifth place – there was only a two-point spread between first and fifth place.

It was a tight competition and much was learned as the band continued to progress in skill and talent. More opportunities are on the horizon with BandBeat at Catawba Ridge High School in Ft Mill, SC this Saturday.

Come out for a local chance to cheer on your favorite team. Go Warriors!
