The ILHS concert ensembles have become one of the strongest and most award-winning components of the band program. From a single developing ensemble a decade ago, ILHS now features a robust concert program with multiple performing groups, an Honors-level curriculum, and a consistent record of superior achievement.

In recent years, the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble have earned Superior and Superior with Distinction ratings in Grade IV and Grade V, demonstrating exemplary musicianship. ILHS has taken two concert ensembles to state Concert Performance Assessment for the first time in school history—an accomplishment few programs achieve.

Students regularly earn seats in Region and All-State Bands, participate in Solo & Ensemble, and attend prestigious university honor clinics. The program has been recognized multiple times with the SCBDA Outstanding Performance Award, the highest honor awarded to band programs in South Carolina.

With strong fundamentals, high standards, and a rapidly expanding middle-school pipeline, the ILHS concert program offers students some of the most rigorous and rewarding musical experiences in the state.
